Fall on the South Carolina coast has its own rhythm: a little cooler, a little quieter, and full of local traditions. Here are a few ideas for this week around Murrells Inlet and the Grand Strand.
A Halloween outing worth planning for
If you're making plans for next weekend, Halloween on the MarshWalk is Saturday, October 31, from 5 to 10 p.m. The evening includes trick-or-treating, a children's costume contest, and an adult costume contest. It's one of those uniquely Murrells Inlet celebrations with marsh views and restaurants all in one place.
A family-friendly festival this Saturday
On Saturday, October 24, Halloween BOOnanza takes place from 5 to 8 p.m. at the North Myrtle Beach Park and Sports Complex Soccer/Lacrosse Complex, 150 Citizens Circle, Little River. Expect games, inflatables, marshmallow roasting, a DJ, and trick-or-treating. Admission is $5 cash for ages 3 and older (including adults); ages 2 and under enter free. Check the city's event page for weather updates.
My favorite easy fall afternoon
You don't need a ticket to enjoy this season on the coast. Take a stroll along the Murrells Inlet MarshWalk, grab lunch, or plan a quieter walk near the beach in Garden City or Surfside. Cooler afternoons are a lovely excuse to explore the places that make this stretch of coast feel like home.
